Philippines - Atlantis Dive Resort

Philippines-Header

January 24 to February 9

Puerto Galera is well known for its numerous scuba diving spots; the area was designated a Man and Biosphere Reserve of UNESCO in 1973 and has some of the most diverse coral reef diving in Asia located at the very heart of the 'Coral Triangle'. The area also features numerous pocket beaches and stunning tropical scenery.

Atlantis Puerto Galera is beautifully built into the hills of Sabang Beach of Puerto Galera and has a great beachfront location; in many travel guidebooks and magazines Atlantis is quoted as one of the most outstanding resorts of the Philippines with its award winning (Flintstones) design.

Dumaguete is just a thirty minute drive from the local airport (only a sixty minute flight from Manila), on a long peaceful stretch of beach, lies the lush and luxurious Atlantis Dive Resort.

Surrounded by an amazing tropical garden with some of the rarest plants to be found in the Philippines it is just a short trip to some of the most renowned dive sites in Asia - Apo Island, Siquijor and of course the local Dauin Marine Sanctuaries.

"You come first in everything we do, whether it's your honeymoon, your first time on scuba or a dedicated photo dive for the most experienced divers. Our resort team has decades of experience, but what makes us stand out is the way we make you feel. When you return, which we are sure you will, it's just like coming home." -Atlantis Dive Resort

Dive Saba and St. Kitts

saba-header

November 3 to November 10

The Eastern Caribbean is noted for volcanic islands and dramatic underwater topography.  Join us on this adventure to explore Saba and St. Kitts.

Saba, known for its submerged offshore pinnacles, is the 5 square mile top of a dormant volcano towering 3,000 feet above the surface and surrounded by volcanic sand.

The abrupt topography above the sea is mirrored below, and the profusion of marine life attests to the early institution of the Saba Marine Park in 1987.

St. Kitts offers arguably the widest variety of sites in the Caribbean - finger reefs, recent wrecks, and lots of dropoffs will capture your imagination.

Please call Travel Masters or Scubaland for more information or to sign up!

Socorro

Socorro-1

March 26 to April 3

Scubaland is taking the Baja Aggressor out to Socorro. Why? Because we want to see big stuff … really big stuff!

Socorro is one of the three islands that make up the Revillagigedos Archipelago along with San Benedicto and Roca Partida. But, we commonly refer to the whole area as Socorro. These islands are located approximately 280 nautical miles south of Cabo San Lucas, which is at the very tip of the Baja Peninsula. We will depart Cabo San Lucas and spend about 28 hours making the crossing to Socorro.

The Sea of Cortez is home to over 850 species of reef fish including large tuna, wahoo and schools of jacks. But, the big attraction at Socorro is the Giant Pacific Mantas. Normally, anyone would be excited to see A manta. But, at Socorro, you can expect to see AND interact with several giant Pacific Mantas with wingspans of 15’ to 20’! Holy cow! As is that’s not enough, there are also seven species of sharks including whale sharks, silkies, silver tips, white tips and sometimes tiger sharks. Dolphin encounters are always possible and from January through March these islands are home to a migratory population of humpback whales that come to breed and calve. Whale sharks are seen mainly in November/December and April/May. The Socorro Islands have been compared to the Galapagos Islands and to Cocos Islands as one of the greatest places for big animal encounters.

As always, space is limited on this trip and will sell out quickly. So, if you are interested, call today to get more info or to sign up.

Mike Coker and Vickie Coker are leading this adventure!

Dominica

Dominica-Header

July 15 to July 24

Scubaland is going to take you to the Eastern Caribbean to the island of Dominica (pronounced Dom-in-ee-ka). Dominica is known as "the Nature Island" for good reason: this small island boasts an unspoiled rainforest, volcanic hot springs, 365 rivers and countless waterfalls. Dominica has three National Parks, one of which (the Morne Trois Piton National Park) was enlisted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998. It is the only natural world heritage site in the Eastern Caribbean. A mountainous island, Dominica rises dramatically to almost 5,000 feet above sea level. The island is mostly rural, uncrowded and unspoiled. At least 60% of this nature paradise is still covered by lush tropical rainforest and other verdant vegetation. Water is one of the island's most abundant natural resources. Numerous rivers gush out of the mountains to create spectacular waterfalls (among them Middleham, Victoria, Trafalgar and Sari Sari Falls), emerald pools at the base of the falls, and dramatic gorges, such as Titou Gorge. Dominica is a mecca for the adventure traveler with dozens of water activities including scuba diving, snorkeling, whale & dolphin watching and kayaking. There are also a host of other tours and activities ranging from bird watching and hiking to jeep/ATV safaris and mountain bike treks. For the rugged hiker, a trip to the Boiling Lake, one of the world’s largest actively boiling lake, is a must. The air temperature is approximately 75-85F degrees year-round, with cooler temperatures in the mountains.

We are staying at the Castle Comfort Lodge, a 14 room family owned and operated resort with an in-house dive shop. The Lodge offers Caribbean ambience in a traditional style guesthouse that makes you feel at home (except you don’t have to cook or clean!). Castle Comfort Lodge is on the ocean’s edge and at the base of Dominica’s spectacular mountain range. When you are not diving, you can relax by the pool, in the hot tub or on their private dock. And, if relaxing is not your game, you can enjoy a variety of tours and hikes to spectacular waterfalls and swimming holes.

Dominica is an eco-friendly destination, known for its lush forests, stunning waterfalls and soothing hot springs; but it is what lies below the calm waters that attracts divers from all around the world to this Nature Island. The diving in Dominica is some of the best in the Caribbean. You can expect to find lots of small critters, spectacular walls, turtles, and mounds upon mounds of colorful corals, sponges, and crinoids. And don’t be surprised if you are greeted by playful dolphins or whales during your surface intervals. The waters around Dominica are just teeming with life.

As always, space is limited on this trip and will sell out quickly. So, if you are interested, call today to get more info or to sign up.

Komodo, Indonesia on MSY Damai

Damai-Header

September 28 to October 9

About the Damai

The Damai is a whole new concept in liveaboard diving. The boat takes a maximum of 8 guests plus a group leader. Cabins are at least 300 sq ft! Rooms are beautifully appointed with a king bed or two queen beds. Each room has individually controlled air condition units (2 units per room!), shower, toilet and vanity. There are two desks in each room with reading lamps and 220V outlets. Meals are all customized to your individual needs and desires. There is a maximum of 3 divers per dive guide. And, the price you see is truly all inclusive. The only thing you will pay for on board is the tips and t-shirts. The Damai also has the most unique itineraries, combining old favorites with new sites. If you like this boat, you can go on it again and again and never do the same itinerary twice.

About the diving

The area beyond Komodo is known as Eastern Indonesia. Here are some of the areas we will visit on this trip:

  • KALABAHI BAY: Alor has superb macro and we have seen Rinophias on every trip. Nearby there are dive sites like Babylon or Karl’s dream that are perfect for fish and action, but currents will be present. Also in the area there is the beautiful Pulau Pura, a perfect spot to do split shots with the boat and local fishermen and kids free diving with their wooden goggles.
  • BEANBAGAN: Greta Bay, muck dive and a nice reef with lots of critters.
  • LAMALERA: The Whale fishing village. A must stop for cultural reasons, the diving in front is just fine

MSY Pelagian and Wakatobi

Pelagian-Header

June 1 to June 8

About the Pelagian

The newly remodeled Wakatobi dive yacht is like a floating tropical boutique hotel with ever-changing topside and underwater vistas! All of the cabins have been masterfully designed for comfort and aesthetics. Spacious floor plans, luxurious bathrooms and modern decor create relaxing environments for the guests. With a maximum of only 10 guests, the Pelagian offers more space per guest than any dive yacht of its kind. All interior spaces are air-conditioned and each cabin has its own temperature control. The two remaining cabins on this trip are the Deluxe Cabin and the Standard Cabin. The Deluxe Cabin has its own staircase accessed directly from the main salon. And, the Standard Cabin is next to the camera room ... perfect for a photographer!

About the diving

The Indonesian archipelago is blessed to be in the epicenter of marine life diversity in the world. No other place in the world has the colors, the corals and the creatures in such variety and vast numbers. The Pelagian liveaboard is the perfect compliment to the wonders below. The two regions that the Pelagian will cruise both offer exciting and different diving possibilities. For the macro photographer and for those who appreciate pristine, unexplored, undisturbed reefs, the Wakatobi region is the perfect match. On the cruise, you'll see an incredible variety of hard and soft corals, fish and invertebrates of the healthy reefs in the Wakatobi region. There are literally hundreds of world class dive sites -- many still unexplored.

Galapagos on MSV Wolf Buddy

Galapagos-Header

August 4 to August 11

About the Wolf Buddy

Smooth, stylish, spacious and comfortable, M.Y. Wolf Buddy and M.Y. Darwin Buddy, the newest and most spacious liveaboard dive-yachts in the archipelago of Galapagos, are much more than just two floating hotels.

The two 120 foot (36 m) long yachts with 4 decks, which form Buddy Dive’s Liveaboard’s fleet, are custom designed by Buddy Dive and Varadero Maridueña in Guayaquil, Ecuador, which took them 12 months to design and 11 months to build. Both yachts are equipped with cutting edge equipment that includes a fire control system, lifesaving appliances, and a state of the art navigation and communication system. Excellent craftsmanship resulted in two yachts that will take care of giving the guests the assurance of enjoying an unforgettable holiday and plenty of memorable dives.

All suites are air conditioned, have their own private bathroom and are serviced multiple times per day. They are equipped with an entertainment system that includes a flat-screen monitor and a DVD player. The comfort of the furnishings makes these suites very inviting after a beautiful day of diving.

About the diving - Day 1 (day of arrival)

On Saturday you will arrive aboard at San Cristobal Island, followed by a check out dive at Isla Lobos. This site is the home for many sea lions, as well as sand dollars, black-blotched stingrays, puffers and sea stars.

Day 2

Three dives are scheduled at North Seymour and Mosquera which gives the opportunity to see Galapagos garden eels, sea turtles, sea lions, fur seals, golden eagle rays, yellowtail grunts, bigeye jacks, schools of snappers and frequent sightings of whitetip reef sharks, hammerheads, and Galapagos sharks.

Day 3 - 5

Every day three dives will be made at Wolf Island or Darwin Island. These dive sites are very well known for the high presence of hammerheads, and big Galapagos sharks. There is also the likelihood of seeing marine turtles, various types of rays, mantas, dolphins, moray eels, and invertebrates.

Day 6

Three dives are scheduled at Roca Redondo and Vincente Roca where often sun fish, hammerheads, white tip reef sharks, manta rays, sea horses and Galapagos sharks can be spotted.

Day 7

On this day two dives at Cousins Rock and Bartolome island are made in the morning, followed by a Guided visit to the town of Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island in the afternoon. Cousins Rock is a perfect site for seeing black juvenile corals, Galapagos seahorses, octopuses, hammerheads, Galapagos sharks, green sea turtles, eagle rays, and schools of barracudas.

Day 8 (day of departure)

Check out day and departure from San Cristobal.

The Wolf Buddy and Darwin Buddy ensure a diving experience that will not be forgotten for a long time. This itinerary is subject to change without notice by the authorities of the Galapagos National Park Service depending on environmental reasons.

Dive Komodo

August 8 August 19

Only one liveaboard in Indonesia has 15+ years experience in Komodo and Raja Ampat. That would be the Pindito! The Pindito has 8 twin cabins. Each 10’ x 10’ cabin is named after a mystical Indonesian island and has either a twin bed plus an upper bunk or a spacious double bed. Each cabin features ensuite heads with hot and cold running water, individually controlled air conditioning and five 220V electrical outlets (German 2-pole plugs).

Komodo has been a spectacular dive destination for many years and continues to wow divers. The pristine corals, the multitude of marine life, the outstanding macro, the huge schools of fish, the manta rays … it seems to actually get better with age!

At this time, there is not a group leader assigned to this trip. But, Travel Masters will be handling all of the arrangements so you an be assured of every detail being taken care of for you.
