Description
Eastern Indonesia on MSY Damai
About the Damai
The Damai is a whole new concept in liveaboard diving. The boat takes a maximum of 8 guests plus a group leader. Cabins are at least 300 sq ft! Rooms are beautifully appointed with a king bed or two queen beds. Each room has individually controlled air condition units (2 units per room!), shower, toilet and vanity. There are two desks in each room with reading lamps and 220V outlets. Meals are all customized to your individual needs and desires. There is a maximum of 3 divers per dive guide. And, the price you see is truly all inclusive. The only thing you will pay for on board is the tips and t-shirts. The Damai also has the most unique itineraries, combining old favorites with new sites. If you like this boat, you can go on it again and again and never do the same itinerary twice.
About the diving
The area beyond Komodo is known as Eastern Indonesia. Here are some of the areas we will visit on this trip:
- KALABAHI BAY: Alor has superb macro and we have seen Rinophias on every trip. Nearby there are dive sites like Babylon or Karl’s dream that are perfect for fish and action, but currents will be present. Also in the area there is the beautiful Pulau Pura, a perfect spot to do split shots with the boat and local fishermen and kids free diving with their wooden goggles.
- BEANBAGAN: Greta Bay, muck dive and a nice reef with lots of critters.
- LAMALERA: The Whale fishing village. A must stop for cultural reasons, the diving in front is just fine
- SOANGI: A small island with a great reef, turtles, and sharks. Nice fish action
- ADUNARA STRAITS: Another must also great macro dives
- PULAU PURA: The mile long anemone valley, with thousands of anemones and clown fish, great cultural interaction with the locals, mandarin fish
- ALOR KECIL: Possibilities for great fish action in “Karl’s Dream,” a mythical dive site in Indonesia
- ROTE: 2 days of diving in this area north of Timur. This area has good manta action and atoll-reef system in the east with unbelievable fish life.
Mike Coker and Vickie Coker are leading this adventure!
