The perfect combination trip is to spend a few days around Arenal near the volcano where you can hike, horseback ride, relax in the hot springs and if you are lucky watch the volcano action then you can head down to the beach for lots of great water activities. 

When to travel to Costa Rica 
May – mid November is the rainy season in most of the country and the dry season is mid-November to April. But don’t let the rain deter you! Everything is greener in the rainy season, there are less tourists and prices are generally lower.

Upper 60’s in the winter to mid 80’s in the summer

How to Best Experience Costa Rica:
Land based.  But if you want to dive Cocos Island then liveaboard is the only way to go!

What you’ll find Underwater: 
Moray eels, pufferfish, butterfly fish, sharks, turtles, eagle rays.  Costa Rica has lower visibility and doesn't have the pretty corals you find in the Caribbean but you can get large schools of fish and bull sharks!
