Traveling to New Zealand this Fall?
New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA)
Starting October 1, Americans who plan to travel to New Zealand (for a maximum of three months or are in transit) must apply for a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) regardless of whether they arrive by plane or cruise ship.
The form will become available in July on the
New Zealand Immigration
’s website and on their mobile phone app. The NZeTA will cost about $6 on the app or about $8 online. Visitors must also pay the new International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy which is about $23.
The form will be short and will ask for such basic information as your name, address, date of birth and passport details as well as your travel plans and questions about health and security. Applicants should hear back electronically within 48 to 72 hours if they are approved. According to the embassy, travelers with a clean criminal record will most likely be approved. Those who are declined will need to apply for a visitor visa.
Make sure you add this to your to do list next time you travel to New Zealand!
