 What’s the difference between a travel agent and travel consultant?

We don’t just book a hotel or a flight. Our travel consultants will take the time to get to know you, where you have traveled before, what you liked and didn’t like about previous trips and what you are looking for in your perfect trip. We offer advice on your options to design the trip of your dreams. Travel Masters focuses on quality and value, not necessarily the lowest price. 

How long have you been in business?

Travel Masters has almost 30 years of experience. Our Travel Consultants specialize in Dive and Adventure travel for both individuals and groups.  Travel Masters is an IATA accredited travel provider which authorizes us to sell domestic and international airline tickets.

How do we get started?

Our initial consultation is free. This is when we will ask lots of questions about what you are looking for in a trip and explain our process so you know what to expect. If we both determine we are a good fit for your travel needs, then we will send you our Passenger Info and Policies form and will require an initial fee to move forward with your quote.  

What is the additional cost to use your services?

Travel Masters does charge fees for our services since we put a lot of time into the research, design and coordination of your trip. The fees will vary depending on the scope of the trip but are typically 15-20% of the trip cost (not including the cost for flights). We will discuss this with you at your initial consultation. We will work with you to come up with the perfect itinerary and send you a personalized electronic itinerary before you travel, and make sure your trip goes smoothly.

What is the process?

After our initial consultation, we will create a custom itinerary and quote. We will make any changes as needed until we have the perfect trip! Once we have a finalized itinerary and quote, we will collect the deposit and balance of our consultation fees. We will then start making reservations and before you know it, it will be final payment time (1-6 months prior to departure, varies by vendor). We will send you all your trip documentation 2-3 weeks prior to your trip. We can also send your trip documents via a mobile app. We will check in with you a week prior to your trip to answer any last minute questions. After you return we would love to hear about your trip and any feedback you may have. Then it’s time to start planning your next adventure!

What if I don’t know where I want to go?

During our initial consultation, we can help determine your destination if you don’t have a specific destination in mind but have a particular experience you want.

What can you book for me?

Travel Masters can book tour packages, flights, hotels, rail tickets, rental car, cruises, shore excursions, theater tickets, restaurant reservations, and more.  We have booked dive vacations, African safaris, cruises and European and Asian vacations and much more. 

What if I want to make a change or cancel our trip?

It depends! Some bookings cannot be changed while others may have a penalty fee. There may also be a cost increase for the booking. We also charge a $100-$300 per person change fee for any changes after the initial deposit depending on the scope of the change.

Some bookings are non-refundable but you may be able to change the date. We highly recommend travel insurance and we will discuss this at your initial consultation. We charge a 10% cancel fee based on total trip cost plus any vendor penalties.

Should I get travel insurance?

The short answer is YES!  Many countries require you to have travel insurance that covers medical expenses.  It's also gives you piece of mind in case you need to cancel your trip, you get sick on a trip or even lose your passport.  Ask us for a list of what is and is not covered since travel insurance does not cover everything!  There is a "cancel for any reason" option on most policies but you will want to read the fine print.

I've booked my own trip and have run into issues, what do I do?

Travel Masters offers advising services! Do you have a trip you booked on your own and now you are a little in over your head? It ok, it happens! Travel can be overwhelming with all the details. We are here for you! Give us a call. Our advising services start at $50/hr.

Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes, we do!  They are available in any amount and they do not expire.  Click here to purchase a gift certificate today.  Please put Gift Certificate in the Invoice Number field and let us know the recipient's name.  We will then email you an electronic gift certificate that you can email or print out for your best travel buddy.
