There is also more to Tanzania than just safaris. There are Mount Kilimanjaro and Meru, respectively the highest and fifth-highest peak on the continent, Lakes Victoria, Tanganyika and Nyasa, the three largest fresh water bodies in Africa. There is the magical "SPICE ISLANDS" of Zanzibar, the highlight of a vast Indian Ocean coastline studded with postcard perfect beaches, stunning offshore diving sites, and mysterious ruins.

What Will I See?
Tanzania is known for the Great Migration where thousands of wildebeest and zebra journey from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara.  The Big Five also live here, this is the lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and Cape buffalo.

Best Time to Go:
Tanzania has 2 rainy seasons.  The short one is November - January.  The main rainy season is mid March - early June.  The warmest month is typically February.

11-DAY ITINERARY

This is one of our favorite itineraries for August-October but it can also be customized! Group size per vehicle is limited to 6 so everyone has a window seat! The lodging can vary from this itinerary and is customizable.

Day 1: August – October - Kilimanjaro International Airport/Kibo Palace Hotel or similar: 
You will arrive at the Kilimanjaro International Airport by KLM flight or similar and be transferred by our driver to Kibo Palace Hotel for one night.

Day 2: August– October - Tarangire National Park/Maramboi Tented Camp:
After breakfast you will be driven to Tarangire National Park for game drive (picnic lunch included). The abundance and diversity of fauna and flora in this ecosystem will be rewarding.  In the late afternoon you will proceed to your Tented Camp.

Day 3: August–October - Tarangire National Park/Maramboi Tented Camp:
After early breakfast you will return to Tarangire National Park for another fascinating game viewing. Apart from accommodating a unique population of elephants in Northern Tanzania, you will also see other game such as giraffes, impalas, wildebeest and the carnivores such as lions, leopard etc.  The bird life is also superb.  At 1:00PM, you will return to your Tented Lodge for a late lunch.  After lunch, you will get time to relax by the pool.  At 4:30PM, there will be optional nature walk along Lake Manyara.

Day 4: August– October -  Lake Manyara National Park /Kitela Lodge or similar: 
After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park for game drive.  Manyara is home to the tree climbing lions.  Big troops of baboons and other herbivores will give you great photo opportunities.  Depending on level of water in Lake Manyara at time of visit, you may see thousands of flamingos and other aquatic birds. Late afternoon you will drive to your Lodge.

Day 5: August– October - Tloma Village Cultural Activities /Ngorongoro Serena Lodge or similar: 
After breakfast you will do Village walk at Tloma Village to see and experience different activities of the Local iraqw people. This will include visiting a Hospital, Local brick making Centre, Makonde wood carvers, a church, a local distiller, local coffee roasting family etc.  In the late afternoon, you'll head to the Ngorongoro conservation area to your next lodge.

Day 6: August– October - Ngorongoro Crater/Ngorongoro Serena Lodge or similar.
You will have breakfast at 6:30 AM and depart at 7:00 AM to the Ngorongoro Crater for a mid morning game drive.  Nicknamed the African Garden of Eden, Ngorongoro crater holds the highest concentration of wildlife in Africa, and you will see a lot of wildlife at close quarters. If you are lucky, you may see the rare black rhino. At noon you'll enjoy a picnic lunch in the Crater floor overlooking a hippo pool.  After lunch you will do another afternoon game drive before you are driven back to your Lodge.

Day 7: August– October - Serengeti National Park/Kubu Kubu Tented Camp or similar: 
After breakfast, you will drive to Central Serengeti for an afternoon game drive enjoying the varieties of game animals, birds and beautiful landscape.  Late afternoon you will proceed to your Tented Lodge.

Day 8: August– October - Serengeti National Park/ Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge or similar: 
You will do early morning game drive and late afternoon game drive in different game circuits in central Serengeti. You have a big chance to see the residents’ wildlife especially the cat family members such as lions, leopards, cheetahs and herbivores communities etc. 

Day 9: August– October - Mara River, Northern Serengeti /Mara Mara Tented Lodge or similar.
After breakfast, you will do game drive en route to Mara river in northern Serengeti. Depending on localized rain pattern at the time of visit you may see thousands of wildebeest migration and the predators that follow them. If you are lucky, you may even see them crossing Mara River.  Late afternoon, you will continue to your luxury tented lodge. 

Day 10: August – October -  Mara River, Northern Serengeti /Mara Mara Tented Lodge or similar.
After early breakfast, you will depart from your tented Lodge at 6:30 AM for morning game drive to explore the area more.  You may see thousands of wildebeest migration scattered along Mara River and the surrounding game circuits.  The predators such as lions, leopards and cheetahs may also be seen. If you are really lucky, you may see black rhinos.  At noon you will return to your tented Camp for lunch. At 3:30PM, you will go out again for the evening game drive till 6:00PM before you return to your Lodge. 

Day 11: August – October - Seronera Airstrip/Kibo Palace Hotel/Kilimanjaro International Airport.
 After breakfast you will be transferred to Ndutu Airstrip for your flight to Arusha departing at 10:30AM. On arrival at Arusha Airport, you will be driven to Cultural Heritage Centre for your some shopping.  Lunch and day room shall be at Kibo Palace Hotel.  In the evening, shall be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight back home.

Day 1: 2023:Kilimanjaro International Airport/Kibo Palace Hotel or similar: 

You will Arrive Kilimanjaro International airport by KLM flight or similar and be transferred by our driver Guide to Kibo Palace Hotel or similar for Overnight-Bed and Breakfast.


Day 2: 2023:Tarangire National Park/Tarangire Simba Lodge or similar.

After breakfast you will be driven 2.30 hours to Tarangire National Park with picnic Lunch for game drive. The abundance and diversity of fauna and flora in this ecosystem will be rewarding. You will enjoy seeing both herbivores and carnivores along with an amazing birdlife and beautiful landscape. 

Apart from accommodating a unique population of elephants in Northern Tanzania, you will also see other game such as giraffes, impalas, wildebeest and the carnivores such as lions, leopard etc. Late afternoon you will proceed to your Tented Lodge.

Day 3: 2023:Tarangire National Park/Marera Valley Lodge or similar.

After early breakfast you will return to Tarangire National Park for another fascinating early morning game viewing. Apart from accommodating a unique population of elephants in Northern Tanzania, you will also see other game such as giraffes, impalas, wildebeest and the carnivores such as lions, leopard etc. The bird life is superb. At noon 1400 hours, you will be driven 1:50hours to Karatu where your next Lodge is located.

Day 4:2023: Tloma Village Cultural Activities /Marera Valley Lodge or similar: 

After breakfast you will do a Village walk at Tloma Village to see and experience different activities of the Local iraqw people. This will include visiting a School, Makonde wood carvers, a church, a local distiller, local coffee roasting family and any other activities that you may experience in the village during the walk.

You will then return to your Lodge for Lunch and short afternoon relaxation. At 1530 hours, you will visit a farmers market to experience the local people’s produce.

Day 5:2023: Ngorongoro Crater/Marera Valley Lodge or similar.

You will have breakfast at 6.00 AM and depart at 6:30 AM to the Ngorongoro Crater (2 hours drive), for a full day game drive. Nicknamed the African Garden of Eden, Ngorongoro crater holds the highest concentration of wildlife in Africa, and you will see a lot of wildlife at close quarters.

 If you are lucky, you may see the rare black rhino. At noon you will enjoy packed Lunch in the Crater floor. After Lunch you will do another short afternoon game drive before you are driven back to your Lodge.

Day 6: 2023: Serengeti National Park/Hippo Trails Semi permanent Camp or similar: 

After breakfast, you will be driven 3.30 hours to Serengeti National Park. On the way, you will visit one of the Maasai Village for Cultural exposure. 

After this visit you will proceed to Serengeti entrance gate where you will enjoy your packed Lunch. After your picnic lunch you shall start doing your afternoon game drive en route to your tented lodge, enjoying the varieties of game animals, birds and beautiful landscape.

Central Serengeti is known to be felids stronghold hence you will have a chance to see lions, hyenas, Jackals and if you are lucky Cheetahs and Leopards. Herbivores such as elephants, Giraffes, Buffalos, Impalas, and many more will be seen too. 

Late afternoon you will proceed to your Tented Lodge. Depending on the localized rain pattern at the time of visit, you may see part of great wildebeest migration

Day 7: 2023: Serengeti National Park/Hippo Trails Semi permanent Camp or similar: 

Today you will explore Serengeti even more by doing an early morning and late afternoon game drive with hot lunch being served at your Tented Lodge or do a full day game drive with packed lunch. You will be spending most of the day doing game viewing around Seronera Valley which is predators’ stronghold and varieties of other game animals including good size Schools of hippos. 

If you are lucky you may see elusive predators such as leopards and cheetahs. Their prey, giraffe, topi, Bohor reedbuck, Defassa waterbuck, buffalo impala will also be seen grazing and browsing in different game circuits.   

The impressive Giant rock outcrops (Kopjes) host hyraxes, dwarf mongooses, red-headed agamas and other wildlife. If you are visiting during June-July Or November- December, you may see part of great wildebeest migration.

Day 8: 2023: Seronera Airstrip/Kibo Palace Hotel/Kilimanjaro International Airport.

After breakfast you will be transferred to Seronera Airstrip for your flight to Arusha departing at 1030. On arrival at Arusha Airport, you will be driven to Cultural Heritage Centre for your last shopping. Lunch and day room shall be at Kibo Palace Hotel. In the evening, shall be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for KLM flight back home.


Inclusions:

• Full board Accommodations and 3 meals a day, except the first night in Arusha is Bed and Breakfast and on day 8 dinner is on your own.

•All wildlife viewing with private 4x4 Toyota land cruiser, driven by Professional English-speaking driver guide.
